One Way Ticket to Freedom

One thing I have always wanted is to spend my life traveling. And soon, I am making that dream a reality.

For the longest time, I thought that dream was unattainable. But when I look back, I realize I’ve already been living pieces of it. I’ve lived in four different states. I’ve moved with no plan and only a couple hundred dollars in my pocket — and I didn’t just survive, I thrived.

Yes, I understand there has been luck involved. I don’t have children. I’m capable and willing to work almost any job. I have a supportive family who would help if things ever went wrong. But beyond circumstance, I truly believe my mindset carried me.

I have always believed that positivity begets positivity, and negativity begets negativity. The universe returns tenfold what you give it. When I get out of my own way, I know there is no limit to what I can do.

Now, I feel the familiar itch again.

I told myself I would spend at least a year in New Mexico. I would take one very special trip. I would figure out where to go next after I returned.

My youngest sister and I planned a cruise to Japan for October, and I was so excited — until I realized it was one-way. We would have to book a flight back or commit to another sixteen-day cruise.

And that’s when the thought came.

What if this isn’t just a vacation?
What if this is a jumping-off point?

What if I use this cruise to leave the U.S. and finally move overseas, like I’ve dreamed of for years?

So I started researching what it would actually take. That’s when I found the concept of digital nomads — people who travel full-time and work along the way. Suddenly, the dream didn’t feel abstract anymore. It felt logistical.

I have a plan. I’ll share more as embarkation gets closer.

But for now, I know this: I am ready. Ready to see the world. Ready to experience life beyond borders. Ready to stop letting fear disguise itself as practicality.

It’s wild how often the only thing blocking the path we want is our own mindset.
